Our Story
Our story gets better and better the more we get to tell it; from the time we started dating to the day we got engaged. Matt and I met at Mount St. Mary’s University in the fall of 2015. Matt was in his Graduate years at the Mount, and had accepted a position as the Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistant, now as many of you know… I played four years of D1 collegiate basketball for the Mount (are we all starting to connect the dots here?) We grew to become friends as we saw each other every single day. Spring of 2017, I hung up the basketball jersey and became a “NARP” (non-athletic regular person). I continued to work out, and Matt was always willing to help me in the weight room. We started dating, and I quickly realized, I didn’t want to graduate college without Matt in my life.
Fast forward – we graduated school, Matt took a job in the D.C. area and how perfect did it seem to be, I accepted a job after college in Alexandria, VA. We called Alexandria home for 3 ½ years, and boy has time flown by! We’ve been through it all… tough career decisions, traveling, family, you name it.
Now for the proposal story! Matt had been planning to propose since August 2020, but I didn’t make it easy for him. August 2020, we welcomed home our first GSP puppy, our everything, our Colt! My stubbornness to finally get a puppy paid off. Matt held off the proposal until my birthday weekend (October 12th!) A day that was FULL of activities turned to hell. Our morning photographer cancelled on us last minute, the pumpkin patch wasn’t dog friendly (ew, dog haters!), and I got food poisoning from lunch. Our last plan of the day was to hit up local VA winery, Greenhill Vineyards. When we arrived, I felt better, and we met up with Matt’s cousins (shoutout to Ferris & Amy!) We took a stroll to take some pictures and how perfectly did Matt get down on one knee in front of the vines and ask me to marry him (while Colt was running wild because mom and dad weren’t paying attention…)
Today, we’re living in Cary, North Carolina and loving every second of it! We welcomed home Penelope, our second GSP puppy in August 2021. We are building our first home together and excited to start this chapter of our lives!
